I am a stay at home mother of four children. I have a wonderfully supportive husband, who has coached me through the births of our three youngest children. With every birth I've had, I've become more and more interested in pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding.
My oldest daughter was born when I was very young. I attended a teen pregnancy program and learned everything I could to have a great delivery. I had the support of my mother during labour. It was a tiring but wonderful experience. After 27 hours of labour, my beautiful baby girl was born. With very little life experience, being thrust into motherhood wasn't an easy job, but through perserverance, and the support of my family we both came out alright.
My son, born almost five years later, was a quick labour! Lasting only about 5 hours! My husband was there with me the whole time to hold my hand and let me know I was doing awesome. The hospital was not labour friendly, so his job was a tough one. Our son was in an awkward position, and pushing hurt like hell. He was born with the cutest cone head though. I wouldn't take back one second.
My third child was a ridiculously fast labour. I had about half hour of contractions, and she arrived 5 minutes after we entered the hospital (almost in the toilet)! The doctor didn't even make it to catch her. My husband was there the whole time as surprised as I was to be holding our little one so quickly!
Then our last little girl came on Mother's Day. Won't forget that one! My husband and I planned on taking a trip to BC, alone, for the last time before becoming parents of four. Well, she didn't like this idea, and we spent the morning in labour. My husband walked with me, held me, and reminded me, once again, I was doing awesome. She was a water bir
th, and my husband caught her as she was born!
The only thing missing from all my children's births, was the steadfast, supportive, hand of a doula. Even though my births were great, and I had wonderful support, things would have been easier if we had someone else there to comfort, and reassure us. My husband could have had a rest between contractions, and a hand when I needed extra help. My goal is to make all involved comfortable, and the whole experience as happy and memorable as possible.
Experience
strong and wonderful. They will forever remain in my heart for letting me share with them their birthing experience. With all my personal birth experience, I have soaked up any info I can pertaining to pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding. I feel it is my calling to assist other women have wonderful and memorable outcomes!
